THE SIGNS
How to tell your Vogue battery needs replacing
A battery wears out slowly. If you notice one or more of these signs, your battery is probably reaching the end of its life.
Your range has dropped a lot
Does a full battery take you noticeably less far than when the bike was new, while you ride the same way? Then the cells are worn.
The battery drains fast or cuts out
The display jumps from half full to empty, or the assistance cuts out on a hill.
The battery no longer charges fully
The light on the charger never turns green, or the battery isn't full after charging.
Visible damage
A cracked casing, a damaged charging port or a battery lock that no longer closes properly.
Smell, heat or leaking
Stop charging and riding straight away, and have the battery checked.
The battery has been left empty for a long time
A deeply discharged battery often doesn't come back. Vogue's own manual also states that deep discharge voids the warranty.
BEFORE YOU ORDER
Resetting your Vogue battery, and other checks
Not every battery problem means a new battery. Go through these steps first:
- Put the battery back in the bike. Take the battery out, check that the contacts are clean and dry, and click it back in place. A battery that isn't seated quite right gives the same symptoms as a broken one.
- Reset the battery. Take the battery out of the bike and put it somewhere dry at room temperature. Hold the button for the LED lights on the battery for 10 to 20 seconds, until the lights flash and go out. Then charge the battery fully in one go with the original charger and take a test ride. This is how Vogue Bike describes it. A reset helps when the battery percentage on the display suddenly jumps, or the assistance cuts out for no reason.
- Charge at room temperature. Below about 0 °C and above about 45 °C the battery won't charge. In winter, that's a common reason why "the battery won't charge any more".
- Test the charger. No light on the charger, or does the light never turn green? Then sometimes the charger is the problem, not the battery. A charger costs a lot less.
- Look at the display. Is there an error code, such as 0x30 (communication fault)? Then the problem is often in a cable, a sensor or the controller, not in the battery. Look up the error codes in the manual for your display: UKC3 or UKS2.
Still not working? Then replacing the battery is usually the best solution. Not sure? Have the battery checked at a service point before you order anything.
THE RIGHT BATTERY
UART or CAN: which Vogue battery fits your bike?
Many Vogue e-bikes run on a 36-volt Vogue Apollo battery. It comes in two versions that look alike on the outside but are not interchangeable: UART and CAN. These are two different ways in which the battery, controller and display talk to each other.
Fit a UART battery on a CAN bike (or the other way round) and the bike won't work. Which version your Vogue has depends on the model and year.
These are the Vogue batteries we supply:
| Battery | Capacity | Version |
|---|---|---|
| Vogue Apollo battery 36V 13Ah | 468 Wh | UART or CAN |
| Vogue Apollo battery 36V 14.5Ah | 522 Wh | UART or CAN |
| Vogue frame battery 36V 13Ah | 468 Wh | UART |
Not sure which one you need? Send us a photo of your battery and the label on it, and we'll find the right one for you.
THE CHOICE
Original Vogue battery, compatible battery or refurbishment?
Once your battery is worn out, you'll find three kinds of offers online. An original Vogue Apollo battery is the same battery that was on your bike: it fits the holder, talks to your display and controller, and you don't need to adjust anything.
A compatible battery is a battery from another brand that looks like the Apollo. It's often cheaper, but check the connector and whether it's UART or CAN carefully: a battery that doesn't quite fit, or doesn't talk to your bike, still leaves you with a bike that doesn't work.
Refurbishing means a specialist replaces the old cells inside your own casing. That can be an option if the casing and electronics are still in good shape.
We supply original Vogue Apollo batteries and don't refurbish batteries ourselves. Not sure what makes most sense for you? Ask a service point, or send us a photo of your battery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About Vogue batteries
That depends on how much you ride, how often you let the battery run completely flat, and whether it spends the winter in a cold shed. Store the battery indoors at room temperature in winter and top it up at least once a month. That way it lasts longest.
Often, yes. See the steps above. If a reset doesn't help and your range has dropped a lot, the cells are usually worn.
That depends on the model and year of your Vogue. The two versions are not interchangeable. Not sure? Send us a photo of your battery and the label, and we'll work it out for you.
Warranty claims go through the shop where you bought your Vogue, so go there first. Has the warranty expired? Then you can order a new battery from us, or go to one of our service points.
It might be. No light on the charger, or does it never turn green? Then try another charger first, or have it checked at a service point.
We don't refurbish batteries ourselves. A new original battery is often the most reliable solution. Want to have your battery repaired or refurbished anyway? Only have it done by a certified specialist, for the quality and safety of the battery.

Knowledge center focused on total service and sharing know-how also of special electric bikes. They offer not only a listening ear but also the willingness to think along in solutions. They certainly do not shy away from difficulties. Where other companies gave up, they found the solution. Great service! Highly recommended.
Yesterday afternoon a technician from Ebikepartners was here to help me with the repair of quite a few Stella bikes. Everything went fantastically well, super service. Customers can be satisfied again.
What a fantastic company Ebikepartners is—founded by Gert. I received a warm welcome there with coffee, and they expertly diagnosed the problems with my Stella Copenhague. I was able to head home happy with a bike that worked perfectly. Kudos to Peter for his kindness and expertise.
