Replacing the Stella e-bike battery: which battery do you need?
Looking for a new battery for your Stella e-bike? Over the years, Stella has used several generations of front motor systems, and each generation has its own battery version(s). Note: the battery of the first generation (Battery 1.0, article 43821) was also used in part of the second generation. If your bike has a Shengyi 1310/1312 or 1612 motor with this battery, then this is the correct replacement part, regardless of whether your bike is officially classified as “1st” or “2nd generation.”

So when ordering, do not just rely on how your old battery looks, but check the corresponding item number for your generation and motor version, or ask our customer service.
THE SIGNALS
The main signals that your battery needs replacement
These are the signals we encounter most often.
The range has significantly decreased.
An e-bike battery loses about 8 to 10 percent of its capacity each year. You will notice it yourself: on a full charge, you no longer go as far as you used to.
Charging is no longer working properly.
Is the battery not charging anymore, or does it stop charging halfway? First, check the charger. If it works properly, then the problem is usually in the battery itself or in the battery management system.
The battery is getting warm.
A battery that clearly gets warm during charging or riding should not do that. If you also notice a strong smell, smoke, or sparks, stop charging immediately and do not use the battery anymore.
There is moisture in the battery.
Moisture in the casing causes corrosion and short circuits. If you see condensation behind the window or traces of water around the battery lock, do not use the battery anymore and have it assessed at a service point.
BEFORE YOU ORDER
Does it seem like a battery problem, but is it something else?
Since the battery is usually the most expensive component, we always try to rule out whether the cause lies elsewhere first. All other parts are well stocked.
The charger.
A charger that no longer works looks exactly like an empty battery that no longer charges. If possible, test with another charger before ordering a battery.
The controller.
If the controller is defective, the bike will not provide assistance while the battery is fully charged. The display often shows an error message.
The battery contacts and wiring.
Dirty or bent contacts in the battery compartment, or a cable that has come loose, can cause intermittent support that resembles a broken battery.

About Stella batteries
This is possible, but we do not recommend it. We see many providers in the market offering batteries, but often the quality and safety are not up to standard. The original battery must meet many different requirements and standards, and this is almost never the case with copy batteries.
Yes, this is possible in most cases. Many of our service partners have testing equipment, and we have this ourselves as well.
It is important to charge the battery in a timely manner and not to wait until it is completely empty. Our guideline is to start charging at 20% capacity. Then charge the battery while you can keep an eye on it. So do not do this at night or when you are not home. When the battery is full, you can disconnect it. Do not leave the battery on the charger unnecessarily long; that is not good for the cells.
For a Slimfit 1.0 battery, we do recommend that. This battery is sensitive to water damage and that can create unsafe situations. Because the Slimfit 1.0 is designed with the battery lock in the battery housing, that is a weak point: moisture enters the battery through the lock. The updated Slimfit 1.1 has been developed together with the original manufacturer, with the lock in a sealed chamber. As a result, that battery is safer and lasts longer.
In practice, we see that a battery is replaced after about 4 years.
