YOUR BATTERY
Which Bafang battery do you have?
The label on your Bafang battery usually shows three things you need: the voltage (usually 43 V), the capacity in Ah or Wh (for example 14.5 Ah / 600 Wh) and the type number, such as BT C01 for a rear rack battery or BT F04 for a battery in the frame. With those three details you can choose a battery that fits.
Rear rack or frame
If the battery sits on the rear rack, you have a rear rack battery, as on many Amslod, Cortina and Gazelle models. If it sits in the down tube, you have an Intube battery such as the BT F04A. The two are not interchangeable, not even at the same capacity.
450 Wh (43V 10.4Ah)
The smallest rear rack battery, for shorter rides. Range according to the product information: ±60–90 km.
600 Wh (43V 14.5Ah)
The middle option for the rear rack, for example for daily commuting. Range: ±90–180 km.
750 Wh (43V 17.5Ah)
The largest rear rack battery in the Bafang 43V series, for long rides or if you often ride in the highest assist level. Range: ±113–225 km.
BT F04A, 600 Wh in the frame
Intube battery for bikes with a Bafang battery in the down tube. Range: ±90–170 km.
UART or CAN?
The 450, 600 and 750 Wh rear rack batteries work with both, so you don't have to choose. The battery slide on your rear rack does come in a UART and a CAN version. If you need to replace that as well, check which one you have or ask us.

THE SIGNS
How to tell your Bafang battery needs replacing
These are the signs we see most often:
Age
An e-bike battery loses roughly 8 to 10 percent of its capacity a year. You'll notice it yourself: a full charge no longer takes you as far as it did.
Visible damage to the battery
Has the battery been dropped, or is there a dent in the casing? An impact can damage the cells inside even when the outside looks fine. Always replace the battery in that case, for fire safety: a fire can start without warning, sometimes weeks or months later.
Leaks, smells, heat, smoke or sparks
Stop charging immediately if you notice leaking, a strong smell, excessive heat, smoke or sparks.
A faulty BMS
Every battery has a Battery Management System (BMS): the circuit board that keeps the battery safe and manages the cells. That board can fail. It can sometimes be replaced, depending on the type of battery. For safety reasons, always have this kind of repair done by a specialist.
Deep discharge
This happens when a battery has been left unused for a long time and drains completely.
A broken charging port
Using the charger incorrectly, or seating the battery wrong in the bike, can break the charging port. A specialist can sometimes replace it — as long as the battery stays watertight afterwards.
A broken battery lock
Battery locks break often too. In most cases they can simply be replaced.
BEFORE YOU ORDER
It looks like the battery — but is it?
The battery is usually the most expensive part of your bike. So check these four things before you order a new one.
The charger. If the light on the charger doesn't come on, the charger may be broken. The Bafang 43V 2A charger fits the 450, 600 and 750 Wh rear rack batteries.
The temperature. A cold battery from the shed charges poorly. Let it warm up indoors for a few hours first.
The battery slide or connector. If the battery charges but the bike gets no power, the contact on the rear rack (the battery slide) or, with a frame battery, the battery connector may be worn.
The controller or wiring. If there is an error code on the display, the problem is often there.
Check those four before you order a new battery. It saves you buying one you didn't need.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About Bafang batteries
According to the product information, about 90 to 180 kilometres with the rear rack battery, and 90 to 170 kilometres with the BT F04A in the frame. That range is wide because it depends on your weight, the assist level, the wind, the tyre pressure and the temperature. In winter and in the highest assist level, expect the lower end.
With the Bafang 43V rear rack batteries, yes: they have the same voltage and fit the same battery slide. You'll go further on one charge. In doubt? Send us a photo of your battery and slide.
Not for the 450, 600 and 750 Wh rear rack batteries: they work with both. You do for the battery slide, which comes in a UART and a CAN version.
Put the battery back in the charger or the bike and check that the contacts are clean. Charge at room temperature, because a cold battery charges poorly. If the light on the charger doesn't come on, the charger may be the problem. Still not working? Have the battery checked at a service point, or contact us.
For the 43V batteries of 450, 600 and 750 Wh, that's the Bafang 43V 2A charger with a round, single-pin charging plug. Never use a charger with a different voltage, even if the plug fits.
In practice we see most batteries manage between 500 and 1,000 charge cycles, and a battery loses roughly 8 to 10 percent of its capacity a year. Don't leave the battery completely empty over winter: deep discharge can damage it beyond repair.
We don't refurbish batteries ourselves; we sell new batteries. If you want your current battery refurbished or repaired, we'll point you to a service point. Always have that done by a certified specialist, for the quality and safety of the battery afterwards.
EXPERIENCES
What our customers say
Knowledge centre focused on total service and sharing know-how, including about special electric bikes. In addition to listening, they are willing to help find solutions. They certainly don't shy away from difficulties. Where other companies gave up, they found the solution. Great service! Highly recommended.
Yesterday afternoon, a mechanic from Ebikepartners came by to help me repair quite a few Stella bikes. Everything went fantastically well, great service. Customers can be satisfied again.
What a fantastic company Ebikepartners is, set up by Gert. I was warmly welcomed with coffee and a very professional diagnosis was made of the problems with the Stella Copenhague. With a well-functioning bike, I was happily able to go home. Kudos to the friendliness and expertise of Peter.
