About the Bosch system
Many more luxurious Stella models (such as the Livorno Superior or Vienna) are equipped with a Bosch mid-motor. Is there an error code appearing on the Bosch display? Below you will find the cause and solution for each code. First, check the cables, contact pins, and the placement of the battery for each malfunction.
Bosch error codes
| Error code | Meaning | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|---|
| 503 / 523001 | Speed sensor error | The computer does not recognize bicycle speed. | Check the spoke magnet in the rear wheel. Ensure it runs exactly along the sensor on the frame (distance between 5 mm and 17 mm). Replace the sensor if the magnet is correctly placed but the error persists. |
| 430 | Display battery empty | The internal battery of the Bosch display (such as the Intuvia) is empty. | Manually charge the display via the micro-USB port, or leave the e-bike switched on for an extended period connected to mains power. |
| 500 | Internal motor error | Critical error in the drive unit. | Turn the system off and back on. Perform a firmware update via the Bosch diagnostic software. If the code returns immediately, the motor is internally defective. |
| 530 | Battery error | Communication or voltage issue in the PowerPack or PowerTube. | Remove the battery from the bike, clean the contact pins, and reinsert the battery. Restart the system. |
Tip Note or photograph the error code and restart the system once before replacing parts. Many Bosch messages disappear after a restart or a firmware update via the Bosch diagnostic software.
