Amslod display replacement
A display that stays black or throws an error is a nuisance, but the display itself is often not the cause. Below you can read what it usually comes down to, when it is something else, and what you can do about it.

WHY DISPLAYS FAIL
Sound familiar?
In our experience, displays and control pads fail for a handful of recurring reasons. These are the ones we see by far the most.
The bike shed.
By far the most displays and control pads we see are damaged in bike sheds and racks: handlebars knock into each other, and cables or mounts break.
The weather.
The controls and the display have to stand up to wind and rain. Even so, conditions in the Netherlands and Belgium are hard on components like these. Our maritime climate brings damp, and together with sunlight it dries out the rubber buttons until they start letting water through — which is what kills the electronics. We also see connectors oxidise, which makes control pads and displays glitch or stop working altogether.
No signal at all from your display or control pad?
Then it is worth checking whether it is still properly connected. Do be careful: the connectors are fragile, and the small pins in the plug have to seat exactly right. It is always wise to tape up the plug connection with insulating tape.
How long does a display last?
If the bike is kept indoors most of the time, control pads and displays can last 10 years or more.
LOOKS LIKE THE DISPLAY — BUT IS IT?
Or is it something else?
Before you order a new display: a display that does nothing is not necessarily broken itself. These three causes come back regularly.
- The display cable.
The display cable that runs through the frame can be broken. - The controller or the battery.
If the display or the controls show nothing at all, the controller or the battery may be at fault.
Check the battery first.
You can usually check the battery status by pressing the button on the battery itself. It takes a few seconds and can save you a wrong diagnosis.
Is there an error code on screen?

UV light from the sun vulcanises the rubber. It turns porous and starts letting water through, and that water shorts out the electrical components.

EXPERIENCES
What our customers say
Knowledge center focused on total service and sharing know-how also of special electric bikes. They offer not only a listening ear but also the willingness to think along in solutions. They certainly do not shy away from difficulties. Where other companies gave up, they found the solution. Great service! Highly recommended.
Yesterday afternoon a technician from Ebikepartners was here to help me with the repair of quite a few Stella bikes. Everything went fantastically well, super service. Customers can be satisfied again.
What a fantastic company Ebikepartners is—founded by Gert. I received a warm welcome there with coffee, and they expertly diagnosed the problems with my Stella Copenhague. I was able to head home happy with a bike that worked perfectly. Kudos to Peter for his kindness and expertise.
